Galaxy4Peace Observe International Day of Living Together In Peace With Street Peace Talk
Lagos, Nigeria – 19th May, 2018 – In observance of International Day of People Living Together in Peace, annually observed on the 16th of May, Galaxy4Peace organized the maiden edition of Street Peace Talk which brought together over fifteen young people that took to the streets in Bariga community, Lagos and campaigned to residents on building a sustainable world of peace, solidarity and harmony.
Living together in peace is all about accepting our individual differences, learning to tolerate one another despite our differences, respect and appreciate people around us, love one another, and stay united despite conflicts we encounter because of the right capacity to resolve it.
Highlighting why Street Peace Talk & using young people as a tool to build peace, Galaxy4Peace – Project Lead, Precious Ajunwa said ” our goal is to mobilize the efforts of young people who the society see as actors to instigates of conflict, to promote peace, tolerance, inclusion, understanding while calling on our collective efforts in community peacebuilding. Ms Ajunwa further said that if we want more young people to wage peace, creating enabling platform such as this event where our peace vibers take the peace message to Bariga Community spreading essence of peaceful coexistence and how it can be achieved”
As young people, we need to do more to uphold the desire to live and act together, united in differences and diversity, in order to build a sustainable world of peace, solidarity and harmony. Through one step at a time, we change the narrative with more youths waging peace across our communities~ Galaxy4Peace Community Outreach Lead, Mercy Obinali shared.
Street Peace Talk which featured Street Peace Photo Shoot by our Peace Vibers did not allow language barrier to stop their peace message, as they engaged with Bariga residents with Pidgin English, Yoruba and Igbo language to endeavor that the peace messages reached everyone they came across.
