From the office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees report, about two-third of the world’s forcibly uprooted people are displaced within their own country and Nigeria is not left out from this situation.

These forcibly uprooted persons are known as: ‘Internally displaced people’ (IDP) and UNHCR has been playing an increasingly important role in recent years assisting them.
From the 2014 report of the Internally Displacement Monitoring Centre and Norwegian Refugee Council, it has been revealed that no fewer than 3.3 million Nigerians are internally displaced as a result of the series of insurgency in the country.
This worrisome trend has put people whom we have now come to adopt as our siblings, pass through horrific conditions in life just for survival.
As a result of this menace, these people require urgent attention from government, individuals, and organizations alike.
In view of this, Galaxy for Peace has launched a new project and call to action tagged: “We Are In This Together” (WAITT) which is in partnership with Pacific Well-Care Consults, aimed at reaching out to ‘IDP’ to provide humanitarian assistant by donating relief materials and also conducting trauma healing technique.
WAITT is a project targeted at Nigerian citizens who are internally displaced, mainly in some states in the North East of the country as a result of the armed conflicts.
These displaced people who have been affected as a result of insurgency, have fled their homes and communities, to the extent of wandering into neighboring countries of Niger, Cameroon and Chad, for their own safety. And it’s quite unfortunate to think that these people are suffering from what they didn’t cause.
Why We Are Doing This:
Nigeria is not at peace;
The insurgency has destroyed tens of thousands of innocent souls, displaced more than 3 million people (mainly children and young people) and destroyed thousands of dollars’ worth of properties;
To show these group of individuals that we care about them and willing to help them out of their present condition;
To compliment government efforts by providing succor to these victims of armed conflicts;
To spur people to realize the deteriorating condition of this group of people, who need our support in these trying times;
To alert people to realize the weakening state of insecurity and humanitarian crisis in Nigeria and as such on the need for collective effort in addressing this pressing issue;
Lastly, we have realized that the massive violent insurgency happening in the northern part of Nigeria needs international support and assistance for these displaced persons, and as such we have joined in lending our voice calling for help.
 “As a result of the urgent needs of these internally displaced group (children, young people, adults), we appeal to individuals, private sectors, corporate companies, and the international community as a whole to join us in executing WAITT as well as taking the insecurity situation in Nigeria seriously,” said Galaxy4Peace Project Leade, Precious Ajunwa
If we are our brother’s keeper, we should live by examples and as such show them that in the midst of what they are presently facing, We Are In This Together (WAITT).
Ajunwa further added that every citizen of Nigeria should be concerned about the situation in the northern part of the country, which is further  aggravating.
Rather than keeping silent over the situation; everyone should do whatever he/she can do to support the IDP as every one of us is affected by this challenge:  via death,  political economy of destruction, and underdevelopment.
“We are using this medium to appeal to all Nigerians to give peace a chance, because in the presence of war, economic development is the last on peoples mind” she added.
WAITT is kicking off in Yola as the team intends to provide humanitarian assistance to the IDP this yuletide season and as well spend their Christmas season with them.
We call on good Nigerians who believe that these Nigerians should not be in this situation alone, to support the project with clothing or food items to help the displaced people.
They need love, prayer and all the help they can get!  We believe they are not alone because “We Are In This Together
