Lagos, Nigeria – 20th May, Galaxy4Peace launched Resolve Siblings Rivalry at the’He Named Me Malala’ movie screening on the 19th of May in observance of the International Day of Families.
The event Annually marked on the 15th of May,this day reflects the importance international community attach to families, and highlights the importance of all caregivers in the families, be it parents, grandparents or siblings for the welfare of children.
Revealing on this year’s theme: “Families, education and well-being” Galaxy4Peace highlighted how the theme focused on the role of family and family oriented – policies in promoting early childhood education and life long learning opportunities for children and youths at the event. Speaking to news men, Galaxy4Peace Project Lead It also focus on good practices that needs to be undertaken to attain a work-family balance and assist parent in their educational and caregivers roles.
“At Galaxy4Peace, we strongly believe that today’s families shape tomorrow’s society. Observing this year’s Day, we highlight the vital role families play in raising, nurturing and caring for her children through Education that yields sustainable development, safety and peace. Galaxy4Peace is using this global day to bring to limelight the roles of families in promoting not only Sustainable Development Goal no 4 -Education but the role they need to play in promoting education that builds peace and retain a culture of non-violence in the society.” Precious Ajunwa, Galaxy4Peace Founder stated.
Peace Education is as important as every other educational curriculum therefore the awareness should be circulated across families in the society in order to attain a peaceful and sustainable environment.
“While we note that Family peacebuilding is the foundation to world peace, Galaxy4Peace reinstate the role parents have to play in educating or ensuring that children are brought up knowing the need to have peaceful communities is of great importance ” Miss Ajunwa shared
As a peacebuilding and advocacy organization,changing how individuals and communities respond to violence, Galaxy4Peace will also be launching an online advocacy campaign against violence in families with focus on siblings rivalry at the movie screening . The campaign with the hashtag #ResolveSiblingsRivalry set to promote peace in families will highlight causes, effects of sibling rivalry on the child, family, society at large and corrective measures to be taken in resolving this conflict among siblings and within the family.
